Removing Body Hair - Waxing Tips
Who wouldn't want to get rid of all of that unsightly, unwanted body hair? Who wouldn't want to have silky smooth soft skin once again that is free of hair? Yes, everyone wants to rid themselves of body hair and have soft, smooth skin – smooth as a baby's bottom. But, there are still many people today who are not really comfortable with the concept of waxing.

Waxing conjures images of messy, sticky wax, pulling out of hair and above all else – pain! Even though it can be slightly painful, waxing is the most effective and popular method of removing body hair today. In addition, waxing is also known for its long-lasting hair removing effect. Today, there are two methods of waxing available, namely cold waxing and hot waxing.

Cold waxing is the method that is much preferred by people who are attempting to wax at home, while hot waxing is the most common method in salons. However, studies have shown that warm or hot waxing is a lot more effective than the cold system.

The method of waxing off body hair involves very little discomfort. However, there have been many cases where people have experienced pain or the procedure has turned out to be messy and tedious. So, by following certain rules and tips you can wax your whole body painlessly and neatly. And once you have experienced the effectiveness of waxing, you'll probably not think of using any other hair removal method ever again!

How to prepare yourself for a Wax?

Whether you are using a cold wax or a hot wax, you must make sure that the hair on the skin is at least 1/8 of an inch, in order for the process to be effective. Your skin has to be cleaned and dried thoroughly so that you get the best ever results. If you are using hot wax, make sure the wax is not too hot otherwise you will get burnt. The wax should not be too hard or too liquidy, its consistency should be like that of honey. To avoid being messy, always use cellophane strips instead of cloth.

How to apply Wax?

Before you start waxing, it is advisable to test a small area to make sure that you are not allergic to the wax. The wax has to be applied in the direction of your hair growth. Next, place the strip on the wax and press it in the direction of the hair growth. While pulling the strip, always pull in the direction that is opposite to that of the hair growth.

Post Waxing Tips

Applying a light pressure on the waxed area helps to soothe the skin. Also, apply a soothing lotion or oil so that the skin feels smooth. Most people get rashes and red spots or itchiness after they wax. In this case, apply an ice pack to help soothe the area.

In some cases, the skin tends to appear darker after using wax, so it is best to avoid exposing this area to the sun for at least 24 hours. Use a sun block. Also, it is best not to wax before or during the menstrual cycle because the skin tends to become more sensitive than normal during this period.

If your skin is sun burnt, don't wax the area or your skin might peel off. Teenagers who are prone to getting acne, or people with diabetes should not wax.

By following these basic tips religiously and regularly practicing the process, not only will the hair on your body become softer, but also the chances of your hair growth lessening considerably are very strong. Besides, Who wouldn't want to get rid off all of that unsightly, unwanted body hair?
